Challow in Oxfordshire is divided by a canal into two picturesque villages – West Challow and East Challow, both perfectly placed for touring the beauty of the surrounding Cotswolds. From our cosy cottages in Challow, visitors can easily reach White Horse Hill where the iconic Bronze-Age Uffington White Horse can be found, an enigmatic chalk figure carved into the lush hillside.
Just one mile away is the quaint town of Wantage with a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants offering delicious local cuisine. Here, you will also find the Vale and Downland Museum depicting the fascinating story of the Vale of White Horse and the adjoining chalk hills.
Further afield is the historical city of Oxford where you can enjoy punting along the River Thames and colourful strolls around the Oxford Botanic Garden, as well as challenging yourself to a climb up one of the city’s magnificent spires where incredible views await. There is also the Shakespearean wonderland of Stratford-upon-Avon nearby where you can enjoy a mouth-watering cream tea in one of its bard-themed tearooms or take in a play by the world-famous Royal Shakespeare Company.
