Enriched with a wealth of characterful details, this traditional terraced cottage in the Cotswolds town of Malmesbury offers a charming escape for couples or small families. The ancient stone cottage sits in the heart of the town, just a stone’s throw from the banks of the River Avon, Malmesbury Abbey and Gardens, and the fascinating Athelstan Museum, which tells the story of the area’s rich history (all within 0.5 miles). Tearooms, boutiques and country pubs line the winding Saxon streets, together creating a peaceful atmosphere in which to rest and recharge. On the edge of town, the vast Cotswolds AONB promises unrivalled beauty, fantastic nature walks and splendid gardens to fill your days. Visit Westonbirt Arboretum, home to an impressive collection of rare flora (6 miles), or explore the royal residence of Highgrove with a tour of its beautiful gardens (5.5 miles).

Take a few steps up from the main road to enter this handsome holiday home. Inside, original wooden beams and exposed brickwork define the open-plan living space - quirky features that serve as a constant reminder of the property’s age and heritage. Despite its historic charm, the cottage has been thoroughly modernised with up-to-date comforts and technology, creating a welcoming retreat for up to four guests. The lounge flows seamlessly into the dining area and stylish kitchen, allowing you to chat with the cook as meals are prepared. The living area is kept cosy by the warm glow of a wood-burning stove, while a Smart TV tucked neatly into the corner is on hand for late-night entertainment. From the kitchen, enjoy rustling up tasty treats while gazing through the window into the pretty rear garden. Steep, cottage-style stairs lead up to the first bedroom, a delightful double room with front-aspect views. Next door, the modern family bathroom features gleaming fixtures, with a bath with a fixed shower and a handheld shower. A further flight of stairs takes you to the attic bedroom, a charming double tucked beneath exposed beams and Velux windows, creating a snug and characterful space.

At the rear of the property, the enclosed garden offers both patio and lawn areas, providing a private spot to relax outdoors. The spacious terrace is furnished with a table and chairs for enjoying light snacks or hot drinks, while the garden’s tiered design allows you to catch the last of the day’s sunshine. Loved this cottage. Fab location, high quality finishes, beautifully furnished and equipped. Warm and cosy with a lovely wood burner. Bed super comfy and linen was dreamy. If only all holiday cottages were like this! I recommend and would definitely stay again.
