Set on the fringes of the market town of Fairford and close to the Cotswolds National Landscape, this stylish property offers a wonderful base to families and groups of friends. With the River Coln joining the Thames in nearby Lechlade (5 miles), and the Cotswold Lakes just 7.5 miles away, outdoor enthusiasts and water sport lovers are spoiled for adventure possibilities. Fairford’s historic centre is just under a mile away; stroll into town to uncover its heritage – it still boasts a town crier to announce the market on the first Wednesday of each month. If you’re visiting in July, the town plays host to the annual Royal International Air Tattoo, while the Fairford Steam and Vintage Show in August is always a hit. Walkers will love the wealth of nearby trails; wildlife spotters will particularly enjoy a day spent exploring The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens (9 miles).

Enter this inviting home via the rear door and be greeted by a handy utility room perfect for kicking off walking boots and throwing outdoor gear into the wash. A ground-floor wet room with a walk-in shower and WC adds to the convenience on arrival. Move through to the sleek kitchen/diner, offering an open-plan space drenched in natural light. Find all you need to cook up holiday feasts here, then gather at the dining table beside the window to enjoy the chef’s work – a TV is on-hand here, or you could simply enjoy the peaceful garden views. After dinner, cross the hallway to find the comfortable lounge, offering the perfect space to rest up and plan adventures between days out. Open the French doors to the garden on balmy days to let the fresh air flow through or snuggle up in front of the TV and drift off on the soft seating. At the end of each busy day away, head upstairs and choose from three restful bedrooms: a master king-size with a TV, walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom, plus a double bedroom and a cosy twin suited to children. Serving the first-floor bedrooms and completing the home is a well-appointed family bathroom

Unwind outside, making the most of the sun-soaked garden enclosed by hedges. Enjoy garden games on the lawn, then gather at the furnished decking for evening tipples and al fresco meals. Guests will also benefit from off-road parking for up to two cars.

The cottage is beautiful, everything there to start your holiday. Hosts are fantastic. You are near a busy road, but for us that is not a problem.

Very confortable cottage in which one feels at home, nothing is missing. The owner lives next door, always ready to help without beeing intrusive. Even though the road is busy during the day, the cottage faces the garden side and the window panes are double glazed which allows the place to be quiet at all times. We had a lovely weekend at Railway Cottage. Fresh flowers and a welcome tray of treats for us all including our dog were much appreciated. The cottage is very stylish, comfortable and spotlessly clean with everything you could need. Highly recommended.
