Gastard is a peaceful hamlet set within the verdant countryside of Wiltshire. Here you’ll find pretty lanes lined with chocolate box cottages and lovely views across rolling green pastureland. Nearby Corsham offers a great selection of independent shops and eateries as well as stores selling essential supplies. For those wishing to explore the rich history of the area, Lacock Abbey is well worth a visit. Both the Abbey itself and the characterful village streets have been used as a backdrop in TV and film. Also within easy reach are idyllic Castle Combe, Bowood House and gardens, Longleat House and safari park, Stourhead House and gardens, the cities of Bristol and Bath, Stonehenge and the Kennet and Avon canal, all of which are great choices for a day out and within 30 miles.

From the parking area a gravel path leads to the front of the property and the main entrance. Once inside you are met with a compact entrance hall with a shower room immediately opposite, which has a shower and WC. To the left is a charming open plan kitchen/diner which has underfloor heating and is well equipped with an electric range style cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine and a washer/dryer. At the opposite end of the hallway there is a striking lounge with large Inglenook fireplace and wood burner, plus a Smart TV so you can enjoy your favourite shows. Heading back into the hallway there is a narrow winding staircase leading up to a galleried landing on the first floor. Here there are two bedrooms to choose from, the first an inviting king-size and the second a super-king-size zip-and-link (available as a twin on request). Both bedrooms are decorated with care and attention and boast sumptuous feather and down bedding, perfect for a restful nights sleep. There is a bathroom with shower over bath and WC between the bedrooms. There are areas of restricted head height and exposed low beams throughout the first floor, which only adds to its character and charm.

Heading outside via the main entrance you will find an attractive patio area with garden furniture and stone walls on three sides. Lit steps lead up from here to a generous lawn enclosed by hedging. To the side of the property is a parking area suitable for two vehicles.

Field Cottage is a stunning property and the best holiday home we have stayed in . The owner has thought of everything his guests might require and more. Complete peace and quiet except for birdsong and within walking distance of Corsham. Will definitely return to this lovely cottage in such a picturesque part of Wiltshire .

We were attending a wedding locally and booked this cottage for an extended stay. Beautifully presented, exceptionally clean and cosy. Richard was a fabulous host and we would return in a heartbeat!

The most exquisite cottage. Immaculate in its layout and facilities and so well thought out. The two bedrooms are not only more generous in size than you would expect but by any standards and both with the most wonderful views. The woodburning stove, underfloor heating, two shower rooms and quality linen give it all the modern luxury you couldRead more want. I spent a week here and it had everything I needed - including my biggest delight when staying away from home, decent kitchen knives! Gastard is a tiny hamlet with a pub / Indian restaurant (about 15min walk) and depending how you walk a 35-50min walk (or very short drive) to the lovely Corsham (I walk fast!) If you're looking for a country hideaway or simply a lovely base to explore the area I highly recommend. Hide
