The Cotswold Water Park - near Circencester

Try your hand at sailing, windsurfing, climbing, cycling, angling, archery, birdwatching, and walking. There’s even a beach to unwind on if you fancy a quiet day. It’s a great place to return to year-on-year because the park is so big, and there’s so much to do – it’s impossible to pack it all into a single visit.

Gloucester Narrowboats - Gloucester

Ever fancied piloting a canal boat? Well if you pop down to Gloucester Docks you can hire a long boat to take for a jaunt down the canal.  Take a day out on the boat with friends and family. Each boat comes equipped with its own kitchen and WC, so you can enjoy all the home comforts you’d expect ensuring your trip on the water is both uninterrupted and memorable.  Explore the surrounding countryside and stop off at the odd pub along the way. You can collect your boat at 9am and return it at 5pm. Full instructions on use will be given to you in advance.

Take a swerve out of reality and imagine dashing across the plains with a team of husky dogs towing you along! Well you don’t have to go to Canada or Greenland to enjoy the experience, you can command your own team of huskies in the Cotswolds at Arctic Quest, near Tewkesbury. The warm weather version of mushing is a form of cart which is stabilised by the passenger’s weight. You can get pulled along by Siberian and Alaskan huskies that respond to Inuit commands – it’s an exhilarating experience for the intrepid and those that love a day out with a difference. Dog lovers will fall in love with the adorable dogs from the ‘roof of the world’ – or should that be ‘woof of the world?’

Fancy flying a raptor? After a few lessons and practice runs you could be flying and feeding a bird of prey at the Cotswold Falconry. The centre offers great opportunities to get up close and personal with some of the most revered birds from the UK and around the world. You can learn about the species conservation work that the centre is involved in to protect birds of prey and their habitats. The Cotswolds Way

The Cotswolds Way is a 100-mile long trail that runs through the region between Chipping Campden in the north and Bath in the south. Known for its idyllic countryside and quintessentially English tea rooms, the Cotswolds is highly regarded as a great escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of working life. Pick a section of the path to traverse and see the Cotswolds at its rural pinnacle or choose one of the circular or linear walks that branch out. Take in windswept hillsides and breath-taking views along the National Trail. From steep inclines to valley floors, there is a wide variety of terrains to experience. Crocodiles of the World - near Burford

Some very cool customers await you at the Crocodiles of the World zoo, the only one of its kind in the UK. It is home to saltwater and freshwater variants of the species. Great educational fun with a twist for fans of the toothiest of reptiles and the most fearsome! There are also monitor lizards doing the rounds at the park to see as well as some furry meerkats. A keeper experience is available for visitors that wish to get a closer look at the crocodiles and alligators. This is a hidden gem of Cotswolds-based experiences but worth seeking out if you love unusual zoos and awe-inspiring exotic creatures.
