A wonderful stay, we felt instantly at home and we will return. The cottage is a delight; comfy lounge, sunny conservatory, great kitchen. The garden was a joy. The bed was so comfortable, it was difficult to leave it. The extra sitting room at the top of the stairs; a step back in time. Perfect location to Stratford. The cottage is cosy and the bed super comfy. The garden is enclosed and private. Kitchen has everything you could possibly need. We highly recommend Winters Tale as a retreat from the norm. Just mind your head on the smaller door frames!

Comfort is 4 stars only because of the low beams problem, and also because the hot water takes ages to appear - and it could be hotter. It was certainly good value for money, but not quite 5 stars worth.

We had always wanted to stay in a thatched cottage and this didnt disappoint. It was beautifully appointed, cosy and warm. The living room was attractive, the beds were comfortable & we were delighted to find such a well equipped kitchen. We also loved the fact that pets are welcomed. However, we did feel that it was rather expensive. Be aware therRead moree is allocated parking for one car only, should two couples be sharing. We felt that 10am departure on a Sunday was too early considering the cost. Hide

The Cotswolds is home to some of the most unspoilt, historic and famous villages in England. Its honey-coloured stone buildings provide a quintessential English charm found no-where else in the world and offer a plethora of welcoming pubs, tiny tearooms and quaint streets to explore.

Once described by William Morris as ‘the most beautiful village in England’, the chocolate box village of Bibury is one of England’s most iconic hamlets, home to the peaceful River Coln and some of the most photographed houses in the country. The famous Arlington Row is a sight to behold - this row of 14th century weaver’s cottages have been the foundation of Bibury for hundreds of years and is instantly recognisable as a symbol of the Cotswold District.

If you’re seeking a relaxing day of sightseeing, shopping and traditional tearooms, head to the charming town of Cirencester, once the second largest town in Roman Britain. Proclaiming the title "The Capital of the Cotswolds", its market square is dominated by the cathedral-like Parish Church of St. John Baptist (one of the largest in England) and can be easily reached from our self-catering accommodation in Bibury, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.

The rolling Cotswolds countryside is never too far away from your cosy holiday cottage, so you can enjoy a variety of outdoor leisure pursuits including those at The Cotswold Waterpark. This popular tourist destination in Gloucestershire is home to 150 glorious lakes where angling, archery, wakeboarding, windsurfing, birdwatching and even rally driving can be experienced. On a balmy summers day, the Cotswold Country Park and Beach is the place to go, boasting the largest inland beach in the UK.

When it comes to attractions in the Cotswolds, visitors will be spoilt for choice. Grab a stylish bargain at Bicester shopping village, talk a walk on the wild side at Longleat Safari Park, experience a day at the races in Cheltenham, admire colourful blooms at Westonbirt Arboretum, keep the kids entertained at the Cotswolds Farm Park, take a tour around Gloucester Cathedral, and enjoy an indulgent afternoon tea at Blenheim Palace. That’s just for starters, there’s plenty more things to see and do in the Cotswolds and you will love them all!
