Peacefully tucked away within the countryside, this detached barn is simply brimming with character, a great base for couples to relax and enjoy an area steeped in history and breath taking countryside.

The village of Ashton-under-Hill is situated in the south of Worcestershire, at the eastern end of Bredon Hill and overlooks the Cotswolds, well served with a local village inn and farm store. With a wealth of history on its doorstep, the barn is an ideal base for walkers and cyclists with close by Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Ideally situated for the National Hunt racing and festivals at Cheltenham, along with the ancient Saxon town of Winchcombe and Kiftsgate Court Garden. For car enthusiasts, the Prescott Speed Hill Climb hold motoring events throughout the year. Other events near the area that are also worth a visit are Europe’s biggest Medieval Festival in July and the Blossom Festival in the springtime.

Enjoy the views before stepping inside this detached barn. Enter into the kitchen/diner to find the well-equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, dishwasher and washing machine, making it a great space for preparing a meal. The dining area sits to the rear of the room with a traditional farmhouse table, the perfect place to enjoy an evening meal or lazy breakfast, before a day of exploring. There is a small hallway that offers access to the ground floor shower room with WC. Take the steep wooden stairs up to the first floor where you will find the lounge, a stylish space with exposed beams and floor to ceiling windows frames. The cosy sofa with colourful throw is the perfect spot to relax in front of the wood burner and take in the countryside views or watch your favourite movie on the TV/DVD, from the lounge you can also access the wooden balcony. There are double doors that lead from the lounge straight into the stylish king-size bedroom.

Stepping outside, enjoy the views across the countryside from the small garden space with table and chairs, perfect for al fresco dining. There is off-road parking for one car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely stay at the retreat, hosts couldn't have been more helpful and thoughtful with lovely extra touches for our birthday visit. Will definitely be going back if we are in the Cotswolds again.

We had a wonderful week at Halfpenny Horn Retreat. Its the perfect base from which to explore the area, was spacious comfortable and immaculately presented throughout. The space saving stairs are steep but you get used to them and add to the charm of the cottage. We cant wait to return!

Situated in a quiet rural village, great local dog friendly pub, within easy distance of many attractions. A superb place to spend quiet time viewing the buzzards and varied wild life. Very interesting watching the management of seed-um daily. Meg gave us such a warm welcome with little gifts which made us feel very at ease straight away. Beautiful peaceful little cottage on outskirts of village perfect for relaxing and getting away from it all. Nice dog friendly village pub close by and lots of lovely walks close or plenty of places to visit in the Cotswolds area including Broadway and lavender fields.

Halfpenny Horn Retreat is a smashing property, tastefully furnished with fabulous views. The first floor living area is ideal to take advantage the panoramic aspect with large windows allowing brightness in but still keeping the property warm if visiting in Winter. Meg, the owner, is extremely helpful & informative regarding local walks, places of Read moreinterest & things to do. It's a lovely barn with great views and in a beautiful village. We found the steep stairs within the barn and outside a challenge at first but you soon adjust and this adds to the character
