A three-storey, classically proportioned Georgian farmhouse with stunning countryside views in all directions, with space for up to 15 guests.

The house is conveniently located on the main A429 Fosseway road, (which can be busy at times) halfway between Moreton-in-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour, and it is just ten miles north to Stratford-upon-Avon for the RSC and all the Shakespearean history you can soak in. Ten miles south is Stow-on-the-Wold, the Cotswolds' major antiques centre. Two public footpaths lead directly from the house; a 15-minute walk over the road and across the fields to Stretton-on-Fosse and its well-regarded village pub, or if a longer walk is on the cards, try the trail up the hill behind the house with stunning views, to the village of Todenham and another village pub.

This tastefully decorated, rustic farmhouse is the ideal venue for large groups or extended families, boasting shabby chic decor, filled with period features and old bathroom fittings. There are two sitting rooms, one with a sofa bed and both with character fireplaces and wood burners. One room has a television, and the other a video player, in case you want to entertain the kids in a separate living room and leave the adults in peace! The huge beamed traditional farmhouse kitchen is very central to the ambience of the house with seating for 15 people - great for entertaining or simply relaxing while someone is in charge of the food! You can also experience cooking on a traditional Aga (with an electric oven and a hob as a back-up). The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, a dishwasher, two fridges and freezer, and a washing machine and utility area. There is an en-suite double bedroom on the ground floor, with a shower over the bath and a WC, and a further bathroom with a shower over the roll top bath and WC. The first floor has two spacious bedrooms, one with a king-size bed with an additional single bed, and one with a double bed. Both rooms have access to a Jack and Jill bathroom with shower over roll top bath, bidet and WC. On the top floor is a further bedroom with a king-size bed and a single bed, plus two twin bedrooms and a bathroom complete with a hand-held shower, roll top bath, bidet and WC.

Outside the house is a lovely enclosed courtyard with Wisteria plants, a charcoal BBQ and garden furniture. There is a small enclosed garden area laid-to-lawn for the kids. To the front of the house there is enough room to park up to six cars (with high double gates). There is also a decked area with a rose arbour and garden furniture.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 6 bedrooms –2 doubles 2 Kings (1 with additional daybed, 1 with additional single), 2 twins

Lovely character property. Loved how the owner has maintained original features especially the bathrooms. If you like the older style you will love this property. Garden area small but quaint and served our need with outdoor eating area.

For my 40th birthday celebrations we stumbled across this lovely picturesque house on the website. Perfect size and full of character, the farmhouse kitchen is something else, also the luxury of two lovely living rooms really gave us the best experience we could have wished for. Golden Cross Farmhouse is a beautiful property, full of rustic charm, very well equipped for large parties, very spacious inside and with enough room outside in the back courtyard and small lawn area. The kitchen is a joy and we spent most of our week in it. Apart from the very busy road, it's a great place to have a celebration get together.

The Cotswolds is home to some of the most unspoilt, historic and famous villages in England. Its honey-coloured stone buildings provide a quintessential English charm found no-where else in the world and offer a plethora of welcoming pubs, tiny tearooms and quaint streets to explore.

Once described by William Morris as ‘the most beautiful village in England’, the chocolate box village of Bibury is one of England’s most iconic hamlets, home to the peaceful River Coln and some of the most photographed houses in the country. The famous Arlington Row is a sight to behold - this row of 14th century weaver’s cottages have been the foundation of Bibury for hundreds of years and is instantly recognisable as a symbol of the Cotswold District.

If you’re seeking a relaxing day of sightseeing, shopping and traditional tearooms, head to the charming town of Cirencester, once the second largest town in Roman Britain. Proclaiming the title "The Capital of the Cotswolds", its market square is dominated by the cathedral-like Parish Church of St. John Baptist (one of the largest in England) and can be easily reached from our self-catering accommodation in Bibury, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.

The rolling Cotswolds countryside is never too far away from your cosy holiday cottage, so you can enjoy a variety of outdoor leisure pursuits including those at The Cotswold Waterpark. This popular tourist destination in Gloucestershire is home to 150 glorious lakes where angling, archery, wakeboarding, windsurfing, birdwatching and even rally driving can be experienced. On a balmy summers day, the Cotswold Country Park and Beach is the place to go, boasting the largest inland beach in the UK.

When it comes to attractions in the Cotswolds, visitors will be spoilt for choice. Grab a stylish bargain at Bicester shopping village, talk a walk on the wild side at Longleat Safari Park, experience a day at the races in Cheltenham, admire colourful blooms at Westonbirt Arboretum, keep the kids entertained at the Cotswolds Farm Park, take a tour around Gloucester Cathedral, and enjoy an indulgent afternoon tea at Blenheim Palace. That’s just for starters, there’s plenty more things to see and do in the Cotswolds and you will love them all!
