  • Perfectly located for exploring Shakespeare country and the pretty Cotswold villages
  • Wonderful countryside walks from the doorstep to enjoy together
Property code: CC026

A three-storey, classically proportioned Georgian farmhouse with stunning countryside views in all directions, with space for up to 15 guests.

The house is conveniently located on the main A429 Fosseway road, (which can be busy at times) halfway between Moreton-in-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour, and it is just ten miles north to Stratford-upon-Avon for the RSC and all the Shakespearean history you can soak in. Ten miles south is Stow-on-the-Wold, the Cotswolds' major antiques centre. Two public footpaths lead directly from the house; a 15-minute walk over the road and across the fields to Stretton-on-Fosse and its well-regarded village pub, or if a longer walk is on the cards, try the trail up the hill behind the house with stunning views, to the pretty village of Todenham. This tastefully decorated, rustic farmhouse is the ideal venue for large groups or extended families, boasting shabby chic decor, filled with period features and old bathroom fittings. There are two sitting rooms, one with a sofa bed and both with character fireplaces and wood burners. One room has a television, and the other a video player, in case you want to entertain the kids in a separate living room and leave the adults in peace! The huge beamed traditional farmhouse kitchen is very central to the ambience of the house with seating for 15 people - great for entertaining or simply relaxing while someone is in charge of the food! You can also experience cooking on a traditional Aga (with an electric oven and a hob as a back-up). The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, a dishwasher, two fridges and freezer, and a washing machine and utility area. There is an en-suite double bedroom on the ground floor, with a shower over the bath and a WC, and a further bathroom with a shower over the roll top bath and WC. The first floor has two spacious bedrooms, one with a king-size bed with an additional single bed, and one with a double bed. Both rooms have access to a Jack and Jill bathroom with shower over roll top bath, bidet and WC. On the top floor is a further bedroom with a king-size bed and a single bed, plus two twin bedrooms and a bathroom complete with a hand-held shower, roll top bath, bidet and WC.

Outside the house is a lovely enclosed courtyard with wisteria, a charcoal BBQ and garden furniture. There is a small enclosed garden area laid-to-lawn for the kids. To the front of the house there is enough room to park up to six cars (with high double gates). There is also a decked area with a rose arbour and garden furniture.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Golden cross farm house is a lovely property with lots of character features. Its very well equipped and great for groups. It is important to note that you will need to share bathrooms as only one was en-suite. The property is right next to a main road so is very noisy. So if you are looking for a quiet location this is not the property for you. ThRead moree location is ideal for exploring Stratford on Avon and the Cotswolds. Hide

Beautiful house in gorgeous surroundings. Ample room for a large family & children. If I had to mention a draw back it would be the constant noise of the very busy A429. However, this would not stop us from booking again and the Welcome home baked sponge cake was the Icing on the cake, Delicious. A very memorable visit.

We had a great stay at the farmhouse it was perfect for what we needed - large, lots of rooms and bathrooms, toys and books for the children, a very well stocked kitchen and it was comfortable and clean with some lovely furnishings. The house is quite old so there are some minor issues with plumbing but nothing that affected our holiday. The only dRead moreownside is the busy main road and you do have lorries speeding by very loudly all through the night. But other than that it was great. Hide

We enjoyed our stay very much, there's plenty of space and the bedrooms and bathrooms are all very comfortable and well sized. We spent a lot of time in the large farmhouse style kitchen and in the garden/patio-area in the late afternoons and evenings on returning from day trips around the Cotswolds, it had everything we needed.

Great for a group reunion. We celebrated our Golden Wedding with close family. Very comfortable and relaxed style. Its only downside as mentioned by others is its proximity to the busy Fosse way which makes exit onto the road a little challenging at times.

The house is lovely, comfortable, spacious, and full of charm. It is close to lovely towns of Moreton in marsh and Chipping Camden. It is next to a busy road, which was a bit of a problem when large trucks zoomed passed (noise and vibration) but after a couple of beers, less of an issue. Take care when drive out of the property.

13 of us spent the weekend at the farm to celebrate my mums 80th birthday. The accommodation was perfect, beds comfortable. The kitchen was brilliant as this is where we spent most of the time, eating, laughing and drinking . Its the perfect place for a reunion or gathering. We had a blast and would definitely do it again. Thank you

The Cotswolds is home to some of the most unspoilt, historic and famous villages in England. Its honey-coloured stone buildings provide a quintessential English charm found no-where else in the world and offer a plethora of welcoming pubs, tiny tearooms and quaint streets to explore.

Once described by William Morris as ‘the most beautiful village in England’, the chocolate box village of Bibury is one of England’s most iconic hamlets, home to the peaceful River Coln and some of the most photographed houses in the country. The famous Arlington Row is a sight to behold - this row of 14th century weaver’s cottages have been the foundation of Bibury for hundreds of years and is instantly recognisable as a symbol of the Cotswold District.

If you’re seeking a relaxing day of sightseeing, shopping and traditional tearooms, head to the charming town of Cirencester, once the second largest town in Roman Britain. Proclaiming the title "The Capital of the Cotswolds", its market square is dominated by the cathedral-like Parish Church of St. John Baptist (one of the largest in England) and can be easily reached from our self-catering accommodation in Bibury, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.

The rolling Cotswolds countryside is never too far away from your cosy holiday cottage, so you can enjoy a variety of outdoor leisure pursuits including those at The Cotswold Waterpark. This popular tourist destination in Gloucestershire is home to 150 glorious lakes where angling, archery, wakeboarding, windsurfing, birdwatching and even rally driving can be experienced. On a balmy summers day, the Cotswold Country Park and Beach is the place to go, boasting the largest inland beach in the UK.

When it comes to attractions in the Cotswolds, visitors will be spoilt for choice. Grab a stylish bargain at Bicester shopping village, talk a walk on the wild side at Longleat Safari Park, experience a day at the races in Cheltenham, admire colourful blooms at Westonbirt Arboretum, keep the kids entertained at the Cotswolds Farm Park, take a tour around Gloucester Cathedral, and enjoy an indulgent afternoon tea at Blenheim Palace. That’s just for starters, there’s plenty more things to see and do in the Cotswolds and you will love them all!
